first_imgA New Jersey company is trying to keep the 1960s alive with its Yenko-branded specially tuned Chevrolets, and now it’s marketing a Camaro with over 1,000 horsepower.Special Vehicle Engineering (SVE) owns the rights to the classic “Yenko” name, once synonymous with high-powered Chevrolet muscle cars. The tweaked Bowtie-badged coupes turned out by Pennsylvania’s Yenko Chevrolet dealership in the 1960s and ’70s boasted ridiculous amounts of get-up-and-go. Sure enough, SVE’s latest creation, the Yenko/SC, similarly packs a ridiculous 1,050 horsepower and 900 lb.-ft. of torque. The Rolls-Royce Boat Tail may be the most expensive new car ever Trending Videos COMMENTSSHARE YOUR THOUGHTS advertisement ‹ Previous Next › The Yenko/SC will be limited to 50 units. Trending in Canadacenter_img To get to that unbelievable horsepower number, SVE swaps out the standard engine for a 6.8-litre LT-1-based V8, topped off with a honking great big supercharger. Long-tube headers, a high-flow catalytic converter, a larger throttle body, and an upgraded fuel system help, too.All that horsepower means the car has to have some serious cooling, and SVE has taken care of that with dual outboard radiators, an oil cooler, transmission cooler, and even a rear differential cooler. As for the visual upgrades, there aren’t too many. The hood has been changed to accommodate the larger supercharger, and features a bare carbon-fibre centre section. There is also a classic “Yenko” stripe down the rear quarter panel. The Yenko/SC starts out as a standard Camaro, and SVE adds everything else for US$69,995. The only catch is you have to supply the donor car, and it must have the 1LE package. Figure US$37,500 for the Camaro plus US$7,000 for the 1LE package, and you’re looking at a car worth US$115,490.
